Millinery: French Hood
Black and Yellow French Hood.
I learned how to make a traditional French hood during a millinery workshop at RWCMD. The project involved designing and constructing a yellow tartan French hood, which featured a suede lining, pearl detailing, and a lace-up back.
The process included several key millinery techniques, such as cutting and shaping fabric over a structured base to achieve the historical silhouette. I also applied hand-sewing methods to secure the decorative elements, such as pearls, ensuring precision and durability. The lace-up back required careful placement and finishing to achieve both functionality and an authentic period-inspired appearance.
The workshop was led by Josephine Willis. View her website [Here].
